Evidence Based Integrated Medicine
Integrated Mental Health
What is integrative mental health? I use a combination of western medical practices (diagnostic and assessment tools, prescription medications) along with herbal medicine, exercise, nutrition, nutritional supplements, psychotherapy, cognitive training, and behavioral tailoring to help improve mental health and relieve mental health symptoms that interfere with your life. My approach is tailored to each person, some people may be more comfortable with western medicine, while others would prefer to avoid medications. We will work together to create a plan, unique to you, using evidence-based practice.
Psychopharmacology is as much an art as it is a science. I specialize in prescribing for conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, and other mood disorders. If medications are right for you, I will prescribe a medication(s) and follow up with you to monitor safety and effectiveness. Because each person is different, medication plans must be tailored to the individual. If you are prescribed a controlled substance, you will sign a controlled substance agreement, violation of the agreement will result in termination of services. This is for your safety and to protect my prescriptive privileges.
Assessment and Diagnosis
Sometimes what we are feeling is easy to identify and sometimes it is hard to understand why we feel how we do. Some people feel sad, angry, irritable, low energy, anxious, or paralyzed and they would like treatment for these symptoms specifically. Other people would like to improve their mental health, develop a more positive out-look, process a change in their lives or improve their mental clarity, sleep or energy. Our first appointment will be an opportunity to discuss your symptoms, identify your goals and develop a plan. I offer in-person and telehealth (video) appointments.
